Mr. Sobel has been trying and arbitrating construction disputes all over the country for almost 40 years. In 2010, he arbitrated a complex commercial dispute in Paris, France, before the International Chamber of Commerce. He successfully concluded litigation over the new World Trade Center in New York and a differing site condition claim for the builder of the PortMiami Tunnel under a public private partnership arrangement. Most recently he has tried several construction defect claims related to high rise condominiums in South Florida and presently is involved in litigation over the renovation to the Hard Rock Stadium and All Aboard Florida projects. Over his career, he has represented every participant in the process, from developers, design professionals and construction managers to general contractors, subcontractors and material suppliers. Before limiting his practice primarily to construction related disputes, he tried dozens of cases to verdict, ranging from automobile accidents to civil rights violations to common law unfair competition claims. He presently proudly serves as special counsel to the United Soccer League.
For many years, he has served as a neutral arbitrator on the Large and Complex Case Panel maintained by the American Arbitration Association. Since 2007, he has been resolving commercial and construction related disputes as a civil mediator certified by the Florida Supreme Court.
